Though my family members follow hard Hindu rituals to satisfy the gods and goddesses of Hindu mythology,I seldom be a part of all those activities. As Vivekananda said,"People who have no self confidence believe deities" He also restraint others from disturbing the believers."Let the believers do whatever they like" In our families elders have a system of prolonged pooja session for the women so that they will be bound by the family traditions and dare to go out other than temples.
I visited several temples to appease my family over the years. Some temples are famous like Tirupati,Viashno Devi,Guruvayur,Naina Devi,Chamunda Devi, etc all over India. As I am staying in Delhi for the last 30 yrs I have visited almost all the temples in Delhi such as Malai Mandir(RK Puram), Mata Mandir(Jhandewalan), Hanuman Mandir(CP), Sai Baba Mandir (Lodhi Road) and Uttara Guruvayurappan Mandir(Mayur Vihar Phase-1) etc., Of the lists, being a mallu I have a great chance of visiting Uttaraguruvayurappan Temple very frequently.
I remember the deity as just a frames of photo of God Krishna in 1975 with a shed. After 1975 the temple went into numerous renovations. Thanks to donations and other offerings from Delhi Malayalee as well as other sections of Delhi society.Companies like HCL donated heavily for the temple up gradation.Developments were frequent and visible. Now they have an air-conditioned auditorium, two building catering to in house cultural programs and other marriage functions. Also they have a Hospital which they claim to be charitable.
For the last few months I STOPPED VISITING THIS TEMPLE. The reasons are my material for my next blog...
